The Weatherford College Fine Arts Department presents its 2019 musical, “Little Shop of Horrors” Nov. 21-24 in the Alkek Fine Arts Center.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Doors open a half-hour prior to showtime, and admission is free.

The show is directed by James Brownlee, WC theatre instructor, and WC choir instructor Rob Laney is the music director for the production.

“’Little Shop of Horrors’ is great because it’s pertinent in any time period,” Brownlee said. “What was originally a B horror movie from 1960 became a musical in the 1980s that actually has something to say.”

Seymour Krelborn, the play’s protagonist, is poor and mistreated. In his desperation to make his life better, he feeds his desires until they consume both him and the people he loves. The physical manifestation of his desires just happens to be a giant carnivorous plant.

The cast includes Michael Cahill as Seymour Krelborn, Naomi Henley as Audrey, Danielle Yokley as Crystal, Kylie Cummins as Ronette, Sara Brandon Cronin as Chiffon, Aidan Endy as Mr. Mushnik, D.L. Brokenshire as Orin Scrivello (the dentist), Lucia McCoy as Little Audrey II and Casey Jones as Big Audrey II. Other cast members are Lexis Bell, Tye Gage, Sam Virgile, Ethan Sebree, Morgan Braun, Kim Brokenshire, Morgan Langham, Keegan Odell-Yanez, Edwards Goshey, Garrett Hobbs and Iain Crocker.

“Little Shop of Horrors” is rated PG for some language and mild violence.
