Officials from Weatherford College and PECOFacet gathered recently in Mineral Wells to celebrate the success of a Texas Workforce Skills Development Fund grant that provided hands-on training to PECO facet employees.
The TWC Skills Development grant, in partnership with PECOFacet, provided more than 20,000 hours of training in welding, computer aided drafting, 5SLean, safety and more to approximately 290 employees over the course of the grant. The grant, made up of an initial $476,076 with an additional $175,000 in welding equipment, totaled $651,066.
PECOFacet, one of the largest employers in Mineral Wells, provides filtration products and services for the oil and gas industry. WC officials said the partnership allowed the company to gain a more skilled workforce and will provide access to training for residents in the surrounding area, enhancing employment opportunities in the industrial sector.
“With this visionary project, Weatherford College has significantly expanded and improved its industrial trades,” said Julie Lundy, WC Workforce Training and Development Coordinator. “Weatherford College is committed to helping students build a foundation for productive and rewarding careers. This ambitious collaboration in partnership with PECO/Facet and the Texas Workforce Commission will bear fruit for years to come.”
