Long-Time Employees
Honored for Years of Service
Long-time faculty and staff members of Weatherford College were recognized Friday evening during the annual Employee Awards Dinner held in the Victory Baptist Church Family Life Center.
Gini Chesney, a Service Desk Administrator in the Technology Services Department, was named the 2014 Staff Member of the Year. The accolade comes complete with her moment of fame, a plaque, $1,000 cash and round-trip airfare for two to anywhere in the continental United States provided by the WC Foundation.
“I was surprised when I heard my name, and thankful for being able to work at WC,” Chesney said. She plans to use the airfare to visit her daughter who lives in San Francisco.
Other nominees for staff member of the year were Bill Cooper, Nikki Harless, Theresa Hutchison, Linda Hutton, Mason Owen, Dee Dee Perkins and Tammi White.
Recognition was also given to employees who reached a five-year increment in their WC employment. As drama instructor Nancy McVean came to the stage for her 35-year award she stole the show for a few moments as she took a cell-phone selfie with the audience in the background.
The employees with the most longevity, Dr. Richard Bowers and Myrlan Coleman, were recognized for 45 years of employment at WC, and they both shared a few humorous stories from days gone by.
