Drama Students recognized at festival, prepare for next show

Bank Job Cast.

The Weatherford College drama group brought home several awards earlier this month from the Texas Play Festival held at Lone Star College in Kingwood where they presented "Bank Job."

Thirteen colleges participated in the community college competition.

WC students brought home the following awards:

  • Excellent in Production – Full Cast and Crew
  • Superior in Acting – Joshua Davis, Mineral Wells
  • Excellent in Acting – Seth O’Bannon, Weatherford
  • Excellent in Sound Design – Elizabeth Ramsey, Weatherford

“We learned a bunch, made new friends, saw old friends and had a wonderful time watching all the terrific plays from all corners of the state,” said Director Nancy McVean. “The arts are alive and well in Texas.”

WC drama students are now in the midst of preparing for "The House of Blue Leaves" scheduled for April 23 through April 26 in the Alkek Fine Arts Center. Show times for the spring performance is 7:30 p.m. with the exception of a 2 p.m. matinee on April 26. Doors open a half hour prior to the show, and admission is free.
