Carolina Gonzalez of Peaster was named the 2016-17 Joe Tison Outstanding Speech Student at the Weatherford College Fine Arts and Communication Department’s 11th Annual Public Speaking Competition held Wednesday, March 22.
The contest is named in honor of Joe Tison, former Weatherford ISD educator and superintendent, former Weatherford mayor, WC alumnus and former interim president of WC.
Contestants are students nominated by their speech instructors. The competition is judged by a three-member panel made up of volunteers from various departments of the college.
WC students William Franklin, Clifford Johnston, Gareth Samudio and Rachel Vetter also participated in the competition.
