Bank Job takes the stage at WC

Bank Job takes the WC stage.

Just one simple bank job, how hard can it be?

This is the thought that propels the story in Bank Job, a theatre production presented by the Weatherford College Fine Arts and Communications Department Feb. 19 through Feb. 21.

Bank Job debuted in February 2014 at the Amphibian Stage Productions Theater in Fort Worth, and WC drama instructor Nancy McVean was in the audience.

“I loved the production, and thought what fun it would be for my students to be a part of this exciting experience,” McVean said.

The production at WC will be the second time Bank Job has been produced for an audience.

Written by John Kolvenbach, Bank Job is the story of two brothers, Tracey and Russell, who attempt to strike it rich in armed robbery.

“I needed two guys who were exceptionally talented and worked together well, and I knew immediately who to cast – Joshua Davis and Seth O’Bannon,” McVean said.

The brothers quickly learn bank robbery is a more difficult task than it appears in the movies. As plan after plan fails, Tracey and Russell find themselves confined in the bank bathroom with no way out.

“With $17 million in a duffel bag, the window is bricked over, and from this point the fun begins with several alternate plans to escape with the money,” McVean said.  “The entrance of a cop, a woman and, finally, their father makes for an intriguing development of a bizarre story.”

The rest of the cast includes John Henry Long as Dale, the cop; Jeanelle Godson as Jill, the woman; Duncan Alexander as the father; and Jewelia Sky Emery as the radio voice.
Show time is 7:30 p.m. each night in the Alkek Fine Arts Center. Doors open at 7 p.m. and admission is free.

The Fine Arts Department is also hosting a food drive for the Center of Hope and for the animals at the Weatherford/Parker County Animal Shelter and asks patrons for donations to those causes.

The cast and crew of Bank Job will also perform the show at the Texas Community College Theatre Festival Feb. 24 through Feb. 28 at Kingwood College in Houston.
