Author of Jim Wright biography to speak at WC

Weatherford College’s Speaker Jim Wright Library will host Dr. J Brooks Flippen, author of “Speaker Jim Wright: Power, Scandal, and the Birth of Modern Politics” on Thursday, Feb. 21.

Flippen will speak about his Jim Wright biography at 1 p.m. in the Mince Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.

Originally from Norfolk, Viginia, Flippen has a master’s degree in American History and PhD in twentieth century American political history. His family moved to Texas in 1995 and reside today in McKinney. He is currently a professor at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Flippen has spoken at a number of organizations, including NPR and the Nixon Presidential Library, and has written numerous books including, “Nixon and the Environment,” Jimmy Carter, the Politics of Family and the Rise of the Religious Right,” “Conservative Conservationist, Russell E. Train and the Emergency of American Environmentalism.”
