Weatherford College’s Alkek Fine Arts Center will host the production “26 Pebbles” Sunday, Jan. 26, beginning at 3 p.m.

Admission to the play is free, but donations are welcome and will benefit the Crossroads Youth Program in Weatherford. The play lasts approximately 90 minutes and is hosted by the WC Young Democrats Club.

Written by Eric Ulloa, the play centers a town hall meeting in Newtown, Connecticut, six months after the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.

“But it’s not about the death of 20 young children and six adults,” said director Nancy McVean. “Rather, it’s a story of love and hope and community and how the world responded to this tragedy.”

The cast consists of WC staff member Julie Moeller; WC alumni Rebo Hill and Damek Salazar; and community members Craig Atherton, Clara Chestnut and Lana Robinson. McVean is a retired WC theatre instructor and long-time supporter of the Young Democrats campus club.
