SEVERE WEATHER PROCEDURES


The following procedures will be enacted if severe weather is in the area.

  • The Campus Police Department will monitor the National Weather Service forecast over cable TV, Police Band Radio, and the Internet.
  • When an actual tornado or funnel cloud has been sighted and is moving in the general direction of the college, the President or a designated representative (Vice President of Student Services/ Chief of Police) will authorize sounding the tornado alert- a series of three 5-second rings of the campus bell.
  • At the sound of the tornado warning, all students, faculty, and staff shall proceed immediately to the designated shelter areas as listed below.

Building 704- Academic Center
Proceed immediately to underground floor.

Building 790- Welding/ Machine Shop
Proceed immediately to Building 704, Academic Center, underground floor.

 

SEVERE WEATHER SHELTER AREA FOR WISE COUNTY

Students and faculty/staff should proceed immediately to the hallway. This area provides the best protection when inside this facility.
