Students from the Weatherford College drama department returned from the recent annual Texas Community College Theatre Festival, hosted by Blinn Community College, with several awards.
The cast of Weatherford College's production of "The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940" returned triumphant from the annual Texas Community College Theatre Festival, having won several prestigious awards.
WC's production of "The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940" received an overall Excellent rating, and a Superior acting award went to Kristen Walker of Weatherford. Elysia Worcester of Tolar and Stephen Medellin of Azle each earned Excellent actor ratings, and Autumn Stinnett of Perrin was awarded a Superior in stage management. Rounding out the awards, Marcus Lopez, Weatherford, received an excellent in costume design, and Ryan Patterson, also of Weatherford, an excellent in lighting design. "We are proud and learned a bunch and had a wonderful time," said Nancy McVean, WC theatre director and instructor, "and we were so proud to represent Weatherford College. "For all those who helped to make this possible - many thanks! We awarded our own "Superior" awards to Ruby Lionberger and Sheila Kinkead for their Suburban-driving and relationship-building with all those students!"
