TRAFFIC & PARKING REGULATIONS

 
Vehicles parked on the Weatherford College Campus or the Education Center at Mineral Wells must display a current and valid Parking Permit. Payment for parking is automatically included when you pay for your tuition and fees each semester. The parking permits are valid until August 31 of the current school year. Students must go to the Campus Police Department, located in Couts Hall on the Weatherford College main campus in Weatherford, to pick up their student parking permit.

• Students are required to bring their paid receipt from the Business Office or the printed online statement.
• Students are required to complete the Student Parking Registration form prior to receiving their permit.

Vehicles belonging to students and not displaying their parking permit will be ticketed. Detailed parking information may be in the Weatherford College Student Handbook, by visiting the Weatherford College Police Department, or below on this page.

For the main campus, students must go to the Campus Police Department, located in Couts Hall, to pick up their student parking permit. Mineral Wells and WCWC campuses also issue parking permits.

• All students, faculty members, staff members, and employees of the college who operate a motor vehicle on the campus must register the vehicle and obtain a college parking permit before operating the vehicle on campus property. Parking permits must be picked up from the Campus Police Department located in Couts Hall.
• The parking permit must be hung from rear view mirror with the writing facing forward. If no mirror
  is available, hang tag should be attached to the outside of sun visor in the down position.
• Parking permits are issued to students at the following fees: $30.00 for the Fall Semester, $30.00
  for the Spring semester, and $20.00 for the Summer semesters. All permits expire on August 31. Additional permits are available for an extra $2.00 fee after purchasing the first permit at the semester rate.
• All faculty, staff, and employee parking is reserved between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
• Two or more people cannot register the same vehicle.
• The registration parking permit does not assure anyone that parking spaces will be available at all times.
• "Temporary" parking permits are available at the Campus Police Department. These are available to students who have a vehicle permanently registered at the college but who need to temporarily bring an unregistered vehicle on campus. These temporary permits may be issued for a maximum of two weeks
  (14 days) at no additional charge.
• Coyote Village Residents are required to register their vehicles.
  
  

Parking

• All faculty, staff, and employee parking is reserved between 7 am and 5 pm Monday - Friday, except for the West lot which is reserved 24 hours a day.
• Where individual parking spaces are marked by line boundaries, every vehicle must be placed within the boundaries of its space.
• All areas painted with either yellow, blue or red are reserved and are not available for student parking.
• It is a violation to park a vehicle adjacent and parallel to a legally parked vehicle (double parking).
• It is a violation to park a vehicle in a street, drive, or roadway in such a manner as to obstruct the normal flow of traffic.
• It is a violation to park a vehicle in the following places:
  
  
  • Areas marked "Loading Zone"
  • On any sidewalk or curb
  • Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant or with the boundaries of a marked fire lane (red curb or solid
    red line)
  • On any lawn or grass area
  • Any space marked "No Parking" (yellow curb)
  • Areas marked "Service Zone" unless authorized
    
    
• Authorized vehicles may park in handicapped parking (blue curb)
• Students or college employees may not park in "Visitor Parking" at any time. Once you are registered
  in a class, you are not considered a visitor at any time, you are a student.
• Areas designeated and identified as Reserved
• No Student or Coyote Village Resident may park in Coyote Village east lot.
• Student parking will be allowed in the North parking lot after 5:00 pm in unreserved parking spaces only.
• It is a violation to park an inoperable motor vehicle on college property. An inoperable motor vehicle is one which has been wrecked, dismantled, partially dismantled, or abandoned. The Campus Police may impound inoperable motor vehicles three (3) days after notification has been attached to the vehicle.
• Any Campus Police Officer is authorized to remove a vehicle from college property to a garage or place of storage under the circumstances herin stated, at the owners expense:
  
  
  • Any vehicle which is left unattended where such vehicle constitutes an obstruction to traffic or restricts the access of emergency vehicles.
  • Any vehicle which is illegally parked so as to block the entrace to any driveway or block the free movement by pedestrians on any sidewalk.
  • Any vehicle which is allowed to stand in violation of regulations after having been issued three (3) citation during the current semester.
    
    
• If you are only enrolled in Internet classes, a temporary parking permit is required.

Moving Traffic Violations

• It is a violation to drive or operate a motor vehicle at any time on campus in excess of twenty (20) miles per hour on campus roadways; ten (10) miles per hour in the parking lot and on service drives.
• No vehicle shall be driven after dark without the vehicle's headlights operating.
• Every vehicle shall grant right of way to pedestrians at all times.
• No vehicle is operated at any time upon the lawns or any other place not specifically designed for motor vehicle traffic. However, these rules shall not apply to authorized emergency vehicles or ground and maintenance vehicles of the college.
• All motor vehicles must be muffled, or otherwise equipped to effectively and efficiently prevent loud and unusual noises or annoying smoke discharging from the exhaust of such vehicle.
• It is a violation to drive a vehicle from a stopped position such a rate of acceleration so as to leave marks upon the street or drive, or to create a screeching or shrill noise capable of being heard at a distance of 50 feet.
• It is a violation to remove or tamper with in any way a traffic control or device used to regulate traffic.

Traffic & Parking Regulations

• All articles of the Texas Motor Vehicle Laws and the Uniform Traffic Code, in addition to regulations promulgated by the college, shall be applicable on all properties under the control and jurisdiction of Weatherford College.
• All accidents are to be reported to the campus police. Vehicles that collide are to be left at the impact point so that the police can accomplish an accurate accident investigation.

Penalties for Violations

• Penalty for all parking violations shall be as follows:

• The following procedure shall apply to persons who receive notices (citation) of violation of the Weatherford College Traffic and Parking Regulations:
  
  
  • Payment is made at the Business office. Paid receipt is to be brought down to the Police department - Main Campus only.
  • Should the violator wish to appeal a citation, an appeal form may be completed at the Campus Police Department within seven days from the date of the citation.
  • WCWC citations can be paid at either campus and receipt is to be taken to the WCWC Business office.
    
    
• Failure to pay fees may result in a hold on the person's record and prohibit registration for the class, obtaining a transcript, and the completion of other business with the college.
• The college reserves the right to revoke the privilege of operating a motor vehicle on campus in the case of excessive violations.

Definitions

General Information

• The college assumes no responsibility for any vehicle or its contents while the vehicle is parked on college property. All vehicle operators should lock or otherwise secure their vehicle while parked on campus.
• Any person on the WC property is required to produce identification upon request by a Campus Police Officer or other administrative representative of the college.
• All of the general criminal laws of the State of Texas are declared to be in full force and effect within the areas under the control of Weatherford College. Enforcement of these laws shall be the duty of the Campus Police Officers employed by the Weatherford College Police Department.

Appeals of Citation

• As with municipal citation, once a fee is paid, the violator has pleaded "no contest," and the citation cannot be appealed. Appeals are accomplished in writing. The time limit for an appeal is the semester in which the citation was issued. Appeals will not be accepted for a previous semester. The appeal is presented to the Traffic Appeals Board. The Appeals Boards decides if the citation fee is voided or retained. The police department or appeal board notifies appellants of the board decision.

Important Information About Your Student Identification Number

Disclosure of your student ID number is required in order register a vehicle for parking at Weatherford College. Your student ID number will be used as a unique number to identify you within the parking program and with other internal college systems. Any further disclosure of your student ID number will be governed by the Public Information Act (chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code). With few exceptions, you are entitled on your request to be informed about the information Weatherford College Police Department collects about you. Under Sections 552.021 and 552.023 of the Texas Government Code, you are entitled to receive and review the information. Under Section 559.004 of the Texas Government Code, you are entitled to have Weatherford College Police Department correct information about you that is held by us and that is incorrect, in accordance with departmental policy. The information that Weatherford College Police Department collects will be retained and maintained as required by Texas records retention laws (Sect 441.180 et seq. of the Texas Government Code) and rules. Different types of information are kept for different periods of time.
