ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Associate Degree Nursing

Submit Weatherford College application and official transcripts to the Office of Student Affairs. Student must meet TSI requirements.

Submit the following to the Nursing Office:

Allied Health application with official transcripts from all colleges attended and passing TEAS scores.

Completion of all prerequisite courses: BIOL 2401, BIOL 2402, BIOL 2421, and college level math.

GPA of 2.5 or above on prerequisite courses.

Science courses (BIOL 2401, BIOL 2402, and BIOL 2421) must have been taken within five years prior to admission. If BIOL 2401 and BIOL 2402 are older than five years but less than ten years, there is a comprehensive anatomy and physiology test available through our Testing Center that if passed on one try will lead to acceptance of courses as long as course grades meet the required minimum GPA for prerequisite courses. Cost of test is $25.00. Please call the Testing Center at 817-598-6383 to make an appointment.

Completion of the TEAS entrance exam with a minimum score of 70% each on the reading comprehension and math sections.

Proof of first Hepatitis B immunization or positive titer or Department of State Health Services waiver with application.

 

LVN-RN Transition Program

Submit Weatherford College application and official transcripts to the Office of Student Affairs. Student must meet TSI requirement.

Submit the following to the nursing office:

Allied Health application with official transcripts from all colleges attended and passing TEAS scores.

Completion of all prerequisite courses: BIOL 2401, BIOL 2402, BIOL 2421, and college level math, ENGL 1301, PSYC 2314.

GPA of 2.5 or above on prerequisite courses: BIOL 2401, BIOL 2402, BIOL 2421, and college level math.

Science courses (BIOL 2401, BIOL 2402, and BIOL 2421) must have been taken within five years prior to admission. TOEFL iBT

Before being accepted into any Allied Health/Nursing program, an applicant who's native language* is not English must submit an acceptable score on the TOEFL iBT by the end of the application period in which applicant is applying. Please review English Proficiency Requirement.



Once selected for admission to the nursing program, the student must:

  • Complete a criminal background check and provide clearance from the Texas Board of Nursing (BON).
  • Obtain a TB screen test or chest x-ray (must be current within one year).
  • Obtain a urine drug screen.
  • Have a back/spine examination by a licensed physical therapist.
  • Submit proof of up-to-date immunizations including DT (within the last ten years), MMR, influenza, and varicella.
  • Submit proof of major medical health insurance.
  • Provide proof of current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR.
  • Provide proof of  or Department of State Health Services waiver for Hepatitis B vaccines (three dose series).
  • Vocational nursing students must also complete a physical examination by a MD, DO, or ANP.

Information and forms needed for obtaining the above criteria will be available to the student upon acceptance to the program.
