Network Administration Certificate

This certificate provides training and education in network design and implementation. The certificate emphasizes skills required to perform duties in the workplace as a local area network administrator. The objectives of the certificate are to provide instruction that presents the fundamentals of computer networking, an introduction to peer-to-peer networking, network security, and the basics of client/server environments. The certificate also provides an introduction in multiplatform connectivity, network trouble analysis, and network diagnostics. Students design, install, and administer local area networks in the classroom setting.

A student who wishes to pursue this certificate of study must visit with the Computer Science Department faculty to discuss the curriculum prior to enrollment. Entry into the program requires that students be screened for basic technical English skills and computer skills. Students must be proficient in keyboarding prior to enrolling in and pursuing this certificate.

Upon completion of this certificate program, graduates will have the foundation knowledge of network operating systems, network hardware, network troubleshooting and network management. Graduates will have an understanding of the requirements for certification by network operating system vendors.
