Ponochevny to perform piano concert at WC
Weatherford College welcomes world-renowned pianist Andrey Ponochevny for a solo recital on Friday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. in the Alkek Fine Arts Center.
Hailed for his "power and finesse" by the Washington Post, Ponochevny has claimed top prizes at major international piano competitions including the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and the William Kapell Competition. He has garnered praise for solo performances across North America, Europe and Asia, appearing at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.
Ponochevny was a judge at the 2023 WC International Piano Competition and teaches as Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts and at the University of Dallas.
"I'm thrilled to be back at Weatherford College and present a piano recital," Ponochevny said. "It was a great pleasure to be there last spring as an adjudicator of the piano competition. Thank you, Dr. Hyeyong Song, for inviting me back."
