As a physics and chemistry instructor, Pat McDonough is passionate, he says, about being able to show his students the connection between science and art.

"I have a strong love of beauty and the symmetry of nature," he says. "An artist can share his vision through art, and I can share that same vision through science."

McDonough's extensive experience "in the field" as a chemist and physicist for mining and semi-conductor companies in Utah, Alaska, the Arctic Circle and New Mexico provides invaluable lessons for his students.

"Great physicists see the world through visual images and translate those images to equations," McDonough says. "I love teaching and having this chance to help people see the beauty of our world through science."
