![]() Sporting "Every Dog Has Its Day" t-shirts made especially for the occasion, students in Dr. Karen Austen's physical fitness class at Weatherford College, took advantage of a recent pretty, sunshiny day to get out of the classroom and participated in a service-learning project, taking the Parker Paws Shelter's four-legged residents out for a walk. The exercise benefited not only the animals in the shelter, said Austen, but also heightened the awareness for regular physical exercise for both humans and animals. Even the WC Coyote, pictured, got in on the act, instantly making friends with several frisky canines, including a trio of puppies who were very curious about their big furry "cousin," and a head-strong Australian Shepherd mix who made it clear from the start just who would be leading whom during their walk.Austen encouraged her class to walk the dogs as part of a regular routine to improve overall fitness, and student Brennon Hamilton, was an instant convert. ![]() "If you have difficulty exercising for your own benefit, do it for the dog!"
