Replacement of aging staircases on three buildings on the Weatherford College campus started earlier this week with the demolition of the stairwell on the south side of the Liberal Arts Building, the west end of Mince Building and the south end of Couts Hall. Some classes have been relocated and traffic rerouted during the process. College officials say the construction activities should be completed in two weeks, barring weather delays.
The staircase replacement is the first phase of several construction projects on the Weatherford campus to address safety and ADA requirements. Earlier this year, Johnson Controls, the College's facilities manager, installed ADA-compliant automatic doors in several buildings, including restrooms and other buildings with high public-access traffic.
