With the summer heat behind us, golfers are returning to the links. It's the perfect time for the 9th Annual Weatherford College Tech Prep Scholarship Golf Tournament, Saturday, Oct. 10, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Sugar Tree Golf Club.
"We've raised over $62,000 since 2002-03 and funded over 100 scholarships with the proceeds of this tournament," said Dr. Kevin Eaton, WC's interim president. "Our golfers always have a great time, and all the proceeds go directly to local students."
Tech Prep allows students to get a jump start on their college education by earning up to 16 semester hours of college credit while still in high school. The tournament, in partnership with the WC Foundation, provides scholarships to Tech Prep students attending Weatherford College, making the transition to college even easier.
The four-person scramble features prizes for first-, second- and third-place teams, as well as "longest drive" and "closest to the pin" prizes. The tournament also boasts generous raffle prizes, including three shotguns, two iPods, two rounds of golf at Sugar Tree and 20 other items.
Entry fees are $320 per team or $80 per person. Fees include lunch, golf gifts, greens fee and cart fee.
