The Weatherford College women’s basketball team is off to a great start, and local fans will have the chance to see the Lady Coyotes in action at home this Saturday. Bob McKinley’s Lady Coyotes (13-3 overall, 4-0 in conference play) will face Ranger College at 2 p.m. in the Betty Jo Crumm Graber Athletic Center.
WC will face a struggling Lady Rangers squad (2-15, 1-3), a team that picked up its first conference win Wednesday night, 68-62 over Southwestern Christian.
Weatherford swept Ranger last season, 86-43 and 84-46.
The Lady Coyotes are among the nation’s leaders in several statistical categories. Among National Junior College Athletic Association Division I teams, WC is currently ranked seventh in field goals made per game (29.5), eighth in defensive rebounds per game (38.0), and fifth in blocked shots (6.0).
The WC men’s team is looking for its first conference win. The Coyotes (4-12, 0-3) have played their conference foes close, having lost their three NTCJAC games by an average of only 8.0 points per game.
WC will face Ranger (6-10, 2-1) at 4 p.m. Saturday.
