WC Honors One of its Own

btibbitts jharvey-awardBrad Tibbitts, recently retired Weatherford College history instructor, added another distinction to his 40-year career Jan. 27 as he, along with 33 other educators from across the region, was named to the prestigious Jack Harvey Academy of Exemplary Teachers.

Celebrating its 16th year, the Harvey Academy honors exemplary teachers in the memory of Professor Emeritus Jack Harvey, who taught at WC for 23 years and was considered among his peers as a “master teacher.”

Honorees were selected and nominated by their administrators and fellow teachers. Tibbitts, who retired from his teaching position last spring, was highly praised in the letter to WC: “Mr. Tibbitts earned a reputation for excellence both in and out of the classroom during an educational career that spanned more than 40 years. Along the way, Mr. Tibbitts served as department chair of social sciences and academic dean. Through it all, he displayed a level of professionalism that stood as an example to all. Mr. Tibbitts is a man of great passion, perspective, humility, and unwavering integrity. He has consistently balanced his love of the College with careful reflection and considered judgment. He has met challenges with optimism, openness, and grace. This is, indeed, a testament to this man and his remarkable character. Brad is first, foremost, and always a teacher. When we say WC means “We Care,” our greatest example has been Mr. Brad Tibbitts.”
