A free health fair Thursday, Feb. 11, will offer health screenings, educational information and exhibits at Weatherford College. The event, sponsored by the National Student Nurses Association, will be from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Texas Hall in the Alkek Fine Arts Center on the College's Weatherford campus at 225 College Park Ave. WC faculty, staff and students, as well as the general public, are invited to take advantage of these free services. Carin Adams, RN MSN CPN, instructor in the College Associate Degree Nursing Program, said medical screenings, including cholesterol, blood pressure, vision and hearing, diabetes, and dental health will be available. Additionally, representatives from a variety of social service agencies, health care providers, assisted living centers and physical fitness centers will have information booths. Drug and alcohol awareness information also will be available. Weatherford Regional Medical Center is sponsoring blood work, including triglycerides, cholesterol, CBC and PSA. Fasting is recommended. Exhibitors include the American Heart Association Heart Month information booth Ann's Hearing Aid Center; Cook's Children's Medical Center; Reproductive Health Options Clinic; Power House Gym and Martin Crest Senior Assisted Living, among others. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample free health snacks, drawings for free prizes every hour, and even a chair massage by Jennz Spa services.
