SWASAP, comprising Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and New Mexico, is a professional association of employees of the Federal TRIO programs. The federal Trio Programs include Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search, Student Support Services and other similar programs that assist first generation and low income students achieve their dreams of attending and graduating from college.

Davis, a three-year participant in Upward Bound at WC, is currently a freshman pursuing a degree in the healthcare field with plans to transfer to Midwestern State University. Morgan, a Weatherford High School graduate, was a four- year participant in the WC UB and is also a freshman. He is taking coursework in criminal justice and eventually plans to transfer to Tarleton State University. "I am very proud of these students, and I know that the scholarships will allow them to concentrate on their studies a little easier and not worry so much about paying for their studies," said Jeff Kahlden, WC director of Upward Bound. "As a member of the SWASAP board, I am very excited to award these scholarship checks to a couple of well-deserving students that are a part of the Weatherford College student body."
