Those interested in education programs that lead to teacher certification will have the opportunity Tuesday, Oct. 20, to visit with officials from Weatherford College and Tarleton State University about their programs.
Allison Tomas, Tarleton Teacher Development director, will be available to discuss the articulated degree between Tarleton and WC: Interdisciplinary Studies with EC-6 Standard Teacher Certification. Tomas will be available to answer questions and advise students on coursework requirements.
Sharron Lawrence, director of WC Education Department that includes the Teacher Certification Program, will provide information on requirements for those with at least a bachelor's degree who want to become a teacher in Texas. General information on the Teacher Certification Program (TCP) will be available. Those interested in teaching in grades 4-12, who have a bachelor's degree, may be eligible for the TCP. (WC does not offer an alternative program for those wishing to teach EC-6.)
The information session is scheduled at 6 p.m. in the Boyd Technology Building, Room 201, on WC's main campus, 225 College Park, Weatherford. Interested persons should bring coursework transcripts to discuss entry into the teacher certification program or make an appointment for a consultation to apply to the program. The next class begins in January 2010, and application deadline is Nov. 15, 2009.
