Dr. Rickey Harman, Weatherford College math instructor, added another distinction to his 2009 Faculty Member of the Year award Jan. 29 as he, along with 34 other educators from across the region, was named to the prestigious Jack Harvey Academy of Exemplary Teachers.Dr. Rickey Harman

Celebrating its 14th year, the Harvey Academy honors exemplary teachers in the memory of Professor Emeritus Jack Harvey, who taught at WC for 23 years and was considered among his peers as a "master teacher."

"These educators are some of the finest in our service area, and we are pleased to present this award to honor their work and recognize their efforts," said Dr. Kevin Eaton, president of Weatherford College. "Because of each of these educators, we can look toward the future with confidence that our students are receiving quality instruction and guidance."

Harman has been cited by his peers as having an exceptional work ethic, thriving on the gratification that comes from teaching. He has that special gift that is the common denominator among all exceptional instructors- the ability to reach one's students by creating a positive learning environment and thereby motivating them toward excellence. He served as Faculty Advisory Council chair for two full terms and was the Weatherford College Faculty Member of the year for 2009.
