In a six-hour meeting Tuesday afternoon, the Weatherford College Board of Trustees authorized the hiring of an additional full-time faculty member for the College's agriculture department and instructed President Dr. Joe Birmingham to work with the College's Human Resources Department to investigate the possibility of hiring an outside company to develop an employee survey to gauge College status and employee morale.

The special called meeting was the first for newly-elected board members Trey Cobb, Dr. Trev Dixon, Frank Martin and Joel Watson.

1. Heard additional information about facility repairs and renovations authorized at the April board meeting and instructed Jacobs Engineering and Johnson Controls to prioritize projects that concern safety issues, namely missing roof tiles, gas and electrical infrastructure and some stairways;
2. Authorized the use of College facilities for a schedule of youth sports camps for the summer of 2009, pending analysis of insurance liability and other legal points;
3. Met in closed session with the College's top administration;
4. Discussed salary and contracts procedure for the coming fiscal year and
5. Discussed the possibility of future amendments to the Weatherford College Board Policy Manual, Section BBE, in accordance with Section BF.
