This synopsis is intended as a brief overview of some actions taken by the Weatherford College Board of Trustees at its regularly scheduled January meeting and is for general informational purposes only. This abbreviated summary is not intended to represent or reflect all discussion and action taken by the board at this meeting. Specific details outlining all action taken by the board are recorded in the official Board Meeting Minutes, prepared and maintained by the College President's Office.

At its regular monthly meeting, the Weatherford College Board of Trustees heard another presentation by Mr. Chuck Nixon, a principal with Jacobs Engineering, who outlined a more detailed plan for necessary infrastructure updates and expansion of facilities on the main campus in Weatherford.

The plan includes options for parking lot repair and improvements; sidewalk and stairwell repair and/or installation; additional outdoor security lighting; utility lines replacement and/or upgrades; some upgrades, repair and renovation for several existing campus buildings and the installation of five new modular units to increase functional instructional space. The Board will revisit the proposal at their April meeting.

The Board also heard a detailed report by Matt Boles of RBC Capital Markets, outlining financing options for the proposed project.

In other action, the board also:

1. Heard a report from Vice President of Financial and Administrative Affairs Andra Cantrell that the cash balance as of Jan. 31, 2009, was $23,546,257.43; total revenues were $24,476,039; total expenditures were $16,975,645, and investments are just over $15 million;
2. Discussed scheduling additional special board education/information meetings and
3. Heard a list of scheduled upcoming College activities and events.

Additionally, before convening the regular monthly meeting, the trustees, several WC employees and members of the community witnessed the official drawing to determine name placement on the May election ballot for four of the trustee places. As drawn by an impartial party, the May 9 ballot will list, in order, for Place 3: Lin Bearden and Dr. Trev Dixon; for Place 4: Joel Watson and Dr. Tom Novak; for Place 5: Trey Cobb and Bob Lee and for Place 6: Mayola Lasater and Frank Martin.
