5th Annual Canis Latran Writing Contest

EXTENDED DEADLINE - Monday, February 15, 2010

Weatherford College is proud to announce the FIFTH Annual Canis Latran Writing Contest.

The contest will again be held in conjunction with the Books 'n' Authors 'n' All That Jazz" event, scheduled for Saturday, April 24, 2010, at the Weatherford College Marjorie Black Alkek Fine Arts Center.

A prize of $100 will be awarded to the best entry in each category as determined by the judges. In addition, a prize of $100 will be awarded to the recipient of the Lori Wilde Fiction Award. Lori is an award winning author and Weatherford College graduate,
and she will again personally select the winning submission.

CATEGORIES FOR SUBMISSION:

  1. Poetry (up to 5 pages per poem)
  2. Short Fiction (up to 5500 words)
  3. Creative Non-Fiction (up to 5500 words)

SUBMISSIONS by E-MAIL (preferred)

Submissions MUST be in the FORM OF AN ATTACHMENT and in MS-WORD FORMAT. (NO Microsoft Works, etc.) Documents must be double-spaced and in 12-point Times New Roman type. ONE submission per e-mail. SUBMISSIONS by MAIL

Entries must be double-spaced and in 12-point Times New Roman type. Multiple submissions are acceptable, and may be mailed in the same envelope, but each entry must be accompanied by a separate entry form (facsimile copies are acceptable). Each entry must have a cover sheet with the title and author's name. The author's name must NOT appear on any other pages. Mail submissions to:

Judges include area authors and Weatherford College faculty members.

The submissions of prizewinners will be published in the Fifth Canis Latran, the anthology which will be available for sale at the event.
